Just a quick update - well sort of quick!

I promise future posts will be short and sweet.  It is the end of our 4th week of school and we are all still getting to know one another.  We have an amazing class.  We are going to have a great year!!

So far we have started our Social Studies units on Community.  We are learning about different communities that we all belong to, jobs in those communities, our responsibilities in them, as well as mapping some of them.

In math, we are learning and exploring new ways to add and practicing our addition facts.  We will be starting fast fact testing either next week or the following week.

We have been exploring the tools that we all have in our kits to help cope with different situations that come up.  I have been very impressed with my class and their ability to use their coping skills.

In reading we are learning that rereading is something that we will do for the rest of our lives to help us comprehend what we read as well as understand words that are new to us.  I am sending home the first reading calendar today in the Friday Folder.  Each child is responsible for completing the minimum 500 minutes each month, turning the calendar in on time, and having a parent signature.

In writing we have been exploring adding detail to our writing by using our 5 senses.
