It was a busy and fun week in our room. Between the Fun Run, the Halloween Parade, and the party the fun just kept on happenirng. We hope you have enjoyed our pictures.
In Language Arts we are splitting our time with our writing. We are writing narrative stories with Halloween backdrops. We brainstormed words to use. We have been sharing ideas and have been writing rough drafts. This week we will be revising and editing our stories and participating in peer editing. We are also starting to explore persuasive writing. We will be doing more of this in our social studies unit that we will be focusing more on in the next couple of weeks.
In reading we are exploring informational text and the features that help us understand what the authors are trying to tell us. We are working on picking just the right books for us to read independently.
In science we are wrapping up our ecosystem unit. We have been making observations and recording them. We have been reading and learning about many types of pollution. The unit test will be next week. The children all have the study guide for the test and we will be finishing up our explorations next week.
In social studies we are still working on exploring and understanding our government and how it works. It is not an easy topic for students to understand. We will be exploring more indepth the three levels of govenment as well as the three branches of government.
Math has been mostly reveiw in the first two units. We are also taking the unit BA on units one and two this next week. Students have the study guide with them and we will complete checking it on Monday. I will give them each another copy of it to practice at home Monday night. The test is on Tuesday.
